For unmarried men and women Indian Navy has invited applicants for grant of Short Service Commission in Executive Branch (General Services / Hydro Cadre / IT) and Technical Branches. The selected candidates would undergo training from June 2016 at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala, Kerala. The selection of the candidates would be based on their performance in written test and personal interview round. The candidates need to apply online before September 12, 2015 in prescribed application form.
The Indian Navy has been unable to obtain heavy weight torpedoes from a Finmeccanica group company, Wass for installation on its Scorpene submarines owing to the Italian company being blacklisted in India. Wass Italy had won a contract to supply heavy weight tropedoes for the Navy’s Project 75 submarines in 2014. The Indian Navy needs to install the torpedoes on the Scorpenes which are being built with technology from DCNS, France.
In a dock opening onto the Hooghly River near central Kolkata, one of India’s most lethal new weapons is going through a final outfit. The Kadmatt is a submarine killer, bristling with technology to sniff out and destroy underwater predators. It’s the second of four warships in India’s first dedicated anti-submarine force – a key part of plans to spend at least $61 billion on expanding the navy’s size by about half in 12 years.
