Lt. Cmdr. Gupta who laid down his life in the line of duty while trying to rescue his men during the accident aboard INS Jalashwa in the truest traditions of the Indian Navy. The Quality of life is not judged by the years we live, but by the purpose coming out of that life.Lt. Cdr. Shwet Gupta. has lived the life of a pure soldier. Not many people live by that Standards.

He rushed into rescue mission as soon as he saw other Navy Personnel aboard INS Jalashwa in some trouble. He never worried about the ultimate results. He was on duty and performed his duty cent-percent.

Everyone has to die one day. Lt. Cdr. Shwet Gupta. has died a heroic death. Though he had made all of us sad by leaving our company but at the same time he has made his parents us proud in his 29 years of life.

Lt Ruchir was with Shwet and injured in the same incident.

TRIBUTE TO SHWET
BY Ruchir Prasad- 15 Delta

...god moves in a mysterious way,
his wonders to perform,
he plants his footsteps in the sea,
and rides upon the storm.....

v can swear v havent seen god but most of us in 15th course (esp v delta div) can swear that they saw his likes in the form of shwet sir....he truly rode the storm...and planted his indelible footsteps in the annals of history....as deepak nair sir(13 Delta) rightly said the navy attributes his death to battle. it was his battleworthy character that saw him defy death for 7 days. i am perhaps privileged that i was with him at that moment of reckoning when v decided to jump in inspite of the perils.his words still echo in my ears....agar mask ka wait kiya to vo mar jayega...ruchir aise hi chal....he jumped and so did i. i was the last man to c him conscious b4 i fell myself and in those 30-60 seconds that v wre down all i remember is how he showing utter disregard to himself ..... led by example. as hindus we have heard lord shiva drink the poison to protect the world, i saw a man do it and do it like no one else ever can. v all know wat an officer he was and no paeans to him will suffice but he will now be remembered for a legacy that our seniors can be proud of and r juniors can take inspiration from.
here was a man who beat death....almost....and as a matter of poetic justice.....he lives on forever in r hearts. he wasnt merely a fighter, he was a victor. i was vey hopeful that he wud recover like me but as they say ...god calls the best ppl first....n shwet sir didnt know wat is Second Place. v all need to be proud that we trained under/with him or served with him. Grit, grind and glory....he always had the first 2 in abundance....today he has the third virtue for him....forever.

I wish to thank all of u 4 reading this.

Plz stop grieving as you need to be proud that u knew a man who perhaps only God could equal.

Let the legacy live on,let the legend continue.
